MTNA/TMTA PERFORMANCE
The
Texas MTNA Competitions were held November 9, 2003 at the Shepherd School of
Music on the campus of Rice University in Houston. The contest was large this year, with 72 contestants
registered to perform. Another 5
contestants will go straight to the Divisional MTNA contest, in accordance
with the new MTNA rules. The
South Central Divisional MTNA competitions will be held January 17-18, 2004,
on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

2001 MTNA National Competition Winners
Yuri Blinov, student of Tamas Ungar, was the National Winner of the
Collegiate Artist Piano Competition and the recipient of a Steinway &
Sons Model "M" Grand Piano. Jason Issokson, student of Jan Mark Sloman,
was the National Winner of the High School Strings Competition and the
recipient of a $1,000.00 monetary award from the MTNA Foundation. Also
placing nationally was Alexander Lue, student of Samuel Wong, 3rd place
in Junior High Piano, and Lauren Allain, student of Adam Holzman, 3rd
place in Collegiate Guitar.
