Texas Music Teachers Educational Foundation
The Texas Music Teachers Educational Foundation is responsible for student awards to recognize achievement in performance, music theory, music history, publication, ensemble, and original composition. Financial sponsorship is provided for student winners who represent Texas at the Division and National levels.
TMTEF Funds
These funds are maintained separately from operating accounts.
The Jo Ann Dunn Fargason Memorial Fund helps fund the Winner's Concert at the annual convention.
The Elizabeth Morris Memorial Fund helps to provide Ensemble Senior Awards.
The Donald Johnson Fund provides money for selected MTNA winners.
The General Trust Fund supports various awards for Student Affiliate.
The Ruth Pitts Student Travel Fund was established to make funds available to student winners who will travel to higher levels of competition.
Contributions
Recognition is given to associations who contribute $2.00 per member to the Fargason Fund. These associations are noted as Fargason Fund Angels. An additional challenge issued in 2010 encourages associations to donate $5.00 per member to the fund of their choice.
Memorials and honorariums are accepted and recognized at the annual convention. These are charitable contributions and are considered such for tax purposes.
