June 11-14 Downtown Houston Hyatt RegencyOnline Registration for the 2020 TMTA Convention will be open May 1-31, 2020

In the last newsletter, I mentioned that part of Dennis Alexander’s contribution to our convention, would be a masterclass. I want to interest you in sending a student to play for him. Mr. Alexander will be working with five students on Intermediate repertoire. (No age requirement for the student.) So if you have a student that you feel would do well in a public masterclass, drop me a note ([email protected]) telling me a little about the student, the Intermediate repertoire they would play, and why you feel they would do well in this situation. Deadline for this application is April 1. Don’t let that special student of yours miss out on this fantastic opportunity – |

Congratulations MTNA Collegiate Chapter of the Year,
Texas Tech University!
Texas Tech University's MTNA Collegiate Chapter was selected by Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) as 2020 Collegiate Chapter of the Year. The student organization, which is made up primarily of piano students at TTU, recently created and hosted a local music festival for young pianists in the Lubbock area called PianoPlus, which promotes collaborative performances between pianists and other musicians. In addition, chapter members regularly take part in service projects throughout the year and host guest faculty to provide master classes and professional development for the students. Dr. Carla Davis Cash, Associate Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy serves as faculty advisor to the group.
