Dear TMTA Members,
It is May 1 and I imagine most of you are still doing online lessons. I must say that when I began online lessons back in March, I didn’t think I would make it this far. However, it’s become easier, and I have learned some things about my teaching that I plan on changing when I get to be with my students in person again.
I also miss all of you and am still grieving the cancellation of our convention. However, we have so much to be thankful for. Because of technology, we can still hold our TMTA Performance Contest. Because of the wisdom of past leaders, TMTA is secure financially, so we can still honor students and teachers through our numerous awards. Our organization will continue to thrive through this COVID-19 crisis. I am thankful that so many of you have been able to continue teaching and earning an income these past two months.
The business of TMTA continues, so please take time to vote for our nominees for two Directors, President-Elect, Vice President for Student Activities, and Vice President for Business Activities-Elect. We still need volunteers to keep our organization running.

May 1: Senior and Ensemble Awards
Music For Relaxation
Our 2019 Convention Keynote Speaker Dr. Todd Frazier, has sent a request for participation in a Music for Relaxation Survey, accompanied by a myriad of links to information on how to navigate some of the trials of the COVID-19 pandemic. Just click the link to find out about the survey and find additional links to all the other information. You are welcome to this information, even if you do not care to participate in the survey.
Many teachers and individuals make donations to TMTA on their convention registration. Since we are not having our 2020 Convention, we are still in need of donations to help cover the student awards we will be giving out this year. Please take time to donate!
To encourage more charitable giving in 2020, the recently enacted government stimulus bill (the “CARES Act”) provides additional tax deduction incentives for donors. Please check the IRS website for details.
