President's Message

Dear TMTA Members,
The MTNA/TMTA Performance Competitions were held at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville on November 9 and 10. Texas is strong when it comes to displaying some of the most talented musicians within the MTNA family of state organizations. We have been so fortunate to have Cindy Hessong chair this great event for many years. I want to send out a special thank you to her and let her know how much Texas Teachers appreciate her devotion to this top-notch program. I will post the Texas Winners in the December 1 issue of “In Tune with TMTA.”
Musically, Teresa Crawford, NCTM

TMTA SA ORIGINAL COMPOSITION CONTEST

Carol Crisp, NCTM, Coordinator

Is it possible that you have the next Aaron Copland in your studio?  Give your students the opportunity to compose. They may not be gifted in that area, but you will never know until you have encouraged them to experiment.
