MTNA/TMTA Composition Competitions
Mike Springer, Chair
If, like me, you find yourselves longing for activities which help foster a sense of normalcy these days, then have I got a deal for all of you: the MTNA/TMTA Composition Competition for 2020-2021! Unlike so many other competitions which have been directly impacted by our current situation, this competition will remain unchanged since all compositions are uploaded and judged in a digital format
Just as a reminder, the 2020-2021 MTNA/TMTA Composition Competition is completely separate from the Student Affiliate Original Composition Contest. The deadline for submissions for the MTNA/TMTA Composition Competition is Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM Central Time. More information about this contest can be obtained here.
Have a wonderful fall, and keep composing!
MTNA/TMTA Performance Competitions
Michael W Clark, Chair
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are holding our MTNA competition via video for the first time ever. While we all would prefer our usual live competition, a video competition offers a few advantages. First, the unique size of Texas makes traveling to the competition burdensome for many. I hope that removing the scheduling and financial barriers of travel will allow more students to participate from all across Texas. Second, we are now able to engage outstanding judges from across the country to evaluate our students without the cost of airfare and accommodations. I am confident this temporary transition to a video competition will still provide a valuable learning experience for our students, and I am grateful to all the students, teachers, and parents who are working hard to produce video performances this fall. Deadline for application on the MTNA Website is September 16, 2020 at 2 pm, Central time. Click here for further information.
