MTNA/TMTA Composition Competitions

Mike Springer, Chair

If, like me, you find yourselves longing for activities which help foster a sense of normalcy these days, then have I got a deal for all of you: the MTNA/TMTA Composition Competition for 2020-2021! Unlike so many other competitions which have been directly impacted by our current situation, this competition will remain unchanged since all compositions are uploaded and judged in a digital format
Just as a reminder, the 2020-2021 MTNA/TMTA Composition Competition is completely separate from the Student Affiliate Original Composition Contest. The deadline for submissions for the MTNA/TMTA Composition Competition is Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM Central Time. More information about this contest can be obtained here.
Have a wonderful fall, and keep composing!

MTNA/TMTA Performance Competitions

Michael W Clark, Chair

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are holding our MTNA competition via video for the first time ever. While we all would prefer our usual live competition, a video competition offers a few advantages. First, the unique size of Texas makes traveling to the competition burdensome for many. I hope that removing the scheduling and financial barriers of travel will allow more students to participate from all across Texas. Second, we are now able to engage outstanding judges from across the country to evaluate our students without the cost of airfare and accommodations. I am confident this temporary transition to a video competition will still provide a valuable learning experience for our students, and I am grateful to all the students, teachers, and parents who are working hard to produce video performances this fall. Deadline for application on the MTNA Website is September 16, 2020 at 2 pm, Central time. Click here for further information.

Theory Testing Tips

Jennifer Clay, Theory Coordinator

Greetings! As you continue to prepare students for testing, I would like to share a letter with helpful information for Theory testing. I encourage all members to click here to read it. Keep watching the Theory Worksheet section of the website for a few more new additions coming soon!

Dues and SA Registration

MTNA extended the deadline for their memberships until today, Sept. 1, 2020. I hope all have been able to get their memberships paid. Because of the delay in MTNA documents getting to the Local Association Membership chairs, they might not have you as officially paid by the time you need to register your Student Affiliates. We are taking this into account this year, and it will not be an issue. Please go ahead and register your SA’s. Contact me, or the VPSA, if you have further questions or needs. We will work with you so your students can be registered this year!

Best of State 2021

Dr. Dino Mulic, Best of State Chair

Local Presidents, now is the time to apply for your local association to be one of the nominees for Texas Best of State 2021! This award recognizes and highlights the accomplishments of TMTA local associations. The association will be recognized throughout the year as Best of State. In order to receive the TMTA Best of State Award, an association must submit an application listing local, state, and national activities, participation, and events. The deadline for this application is September 30.
Congratulations to Fort Worth MTA for being named TMTA Best of State 2020!
